Teaching in collaboration with learning centres
If you study teaching and are admitted to a specific study location, you take the exam at a learning center in the study location you are connected to. This applies to the following educational programs:
- Early years education
- Primary education
Learning centers
Most learning centers which Karlstad University has an agreement offer students to take exams with them free of charge. In some cases, there may be a cost which the student himself must bear. You can find which learning centers this applies to in our list of selectable learning centers.
Remember that you can always take the exam free of charge at Karlstad University, even if you study a course/program on distance.
To think about as a distance student:
- Ask about the local regulations and rules that apply at the particular learning center you have chosen.
- To have current contact details in My Kau.
- To register at the learning center you intend to take the exam at the latest 14 days before the exam date.
- Make sure to get to your learning center in good time before your exam starts.
How to register
- Contact the learning center you want to take the exam at and ask for a seat. In cases where you need to provide information about a contact person, see below:
- Contact person: Examination coordination
- E-mail: tenta@kau.se
- Students then choose the location via Mitt Kau (no later than 14 days before the exam date).
- There are learning centers that also want the student to register via their own forms. It is therefore important to inquire about the local routines of the learning center you intend to take the exam at.
- We ask the learning centers to confirm your place reservation via the email you provided in My Kau.
Deregistration
- If you are prevented, it is important that you deregister as soon as possible. This is done via My Kau.
- In this way, your chosen location will be aware of your cancellation. In this way, your place can then go to another student. Some learning centers may charge a fee if you unregister too late.
Exam times
The exam times for a distance exam are different from those taken on campus.
- Start time on campus 08.15 = Start time at learning centers 09.00
- Start time on campus 14.00 = Start time at learning centers 13.00
- Learning centers may not accept students who arrive after 09.00
- Distance exams are only written on weekdays.
Exams after Christmas and New Year
For exams next year, i.e. January 1 - January 20, you should register by December 12 at the latest so that learning centers have the opportunity to book resources in good time before holidays. So don't forget to register both at My Kau and at your learning center according to their instructions.
Examination abroad
As of the autumn semester 2023, the examination abroad is administered via the Examination Coordination. Examinations abroad are only conducted at a Swedish embassy or consulate. It is the student's responsibility to contact the embassy and check the possibility of taking the exam there. If you are a student on an exchange semester, you have the opportunity to write the exam at a partner university.
Read more on the Examinations abroad page or contact the Examination Coordination for more information.
