Gradual return to on-campus teaching
2022-02-09From today, 9 February, the majority of the Covid-19 restrictions concerning the university’s activities will be lifted. This means that we can begin a gradual return to normal on-campus teaching. During a transitional period, teaching and examinations can be held remotely to facilitate planning for students and teachers, however, no longer than 27 March.
During the pandemic, the university has followed the decisions and recommendations from the government and the Public Health Agency, but restrictions will now be removed. The return to on-campus teaching will take place as soon as possible, but in a controlled manner with regard to previous planning. This means that both distance teaching and remote examinations will be possible during a transition period, provided that it contributes to the students achieving the learning objectives of the course. Karlstad University’s vice-chancellor, Johan Sterte, is looking forward to seeing more students and staff on campus.
- It has been a challenging time for all of us and I am proud of the efforts made by both staff and students. We will return to normal as soon as planning allows, and all students studying a campus-based course will be offered teaching sessions on site, even during the transition period. We are a campus-based university and we will now go back to being exactly that, says Johan Sterte.
By 27 March, all university activities should be back to normal. However, for the time being it is still important to maintain good hand hygiene and to stay home if you show symptoms. Adults who have not been vaccinated against Covid-19 are advised to take special precautions by continuing to avoid crowds and large gatherings indoors.
