A new project on needs-driven research and development of methods and tools for IT-supported crisis management training was recently granted 4.8 million Swedish krona from the EU’s regional development fund Interreg. The project CriseIT 2 is a collaboration between 12 partners in Sweden and Norway.
As the name suggest, CriseIT 2 builds upon the previous project CriseIT – Preparing for Future Crisis Management, which was finalized at the end of 2018.
"For the new project, the focus is more on developing example modules and conducting prototyping tests in municipalities in Norway and Sweden. We expect to develop the methodology in detail when it comes to asynchronous, distributed exercises as pre-training for larger exercises and of course for real crisis management", explains Monika Magnusson who is the project co-coordinator and assistant professor in Information System at Karlstad Business School.
"The long-term goal is to increase the crisis preparedness at public sector bodies by providing cost-effective exercises in crisis management that can be run more frequently than exercises presently are conducted", adds Emelie Hindersson, co-ordinator at the Centre for Climate and Safety at Karlstad University.
