Week 43 coincides with both UNESCO’s Global MIL Week and SPARC’s Open Access Week. To highlight this, the University Library is organising three events. Two of them require registration, one by 17 October and one by 20 October at the latest. First up is a film screening followed by a talk with the director, in the afternoon Tuesday 24 October. The film will be shown at Filmstaden in central Karlstad and is organised together with Region Värmland.

The Anne-Marie and Gustaf Ander Foundation for Media Research continues to provide financial support to the Service Research Center (CTF) at Karlstad University. Five guest professors are being affiliated to CTF to strengthen research. With the continued support from the Ander Foundation, five international guest professors will be linked to CTF during the following three years. – We are grateful for the continued support from the Ander Foundation.

A student enrolled in the course “Intercultural studies: race and whiteness in Sweden” at Karlstad University was reported for harassment and disruption of teaching. The disciplinary board has now decided that no disciplinary measure be taken. Two members of the board have dissenting opinions. The disciplinary board received two reports against the student. One report from a fellow student and one from a student association.

The Academic Celebration is one of the biggest events of the year at Karlstad University and a long-standing tradition. On 20 October it is time again and this year we celebrate passion for research – we present and inauguarate our new Vice-Chancellor Jerker Moodysson during this year's celebration. With great pomp and ceremony we will promote our new doctors, award honorary doctorates and inaugurate our new professors.
