Research
I completed my PhD in 2015 with a dissertation in computational linguistics at the Department of Swedish Language at the University of Gothenburg. My dissertation is titled "Step by Step - A computational analysis of Swedish textbook language" and is a large-scale corpus-driven study of Swedish textbook language. Please read Karin Stolpe's article in ATENA Didaktik (2022) which discusses my dissertation.
Currently, I am particularly researching subject language in mathematics together with Anneli Dyrvold. We study the interaction between different semiotic resources (e.g., natural language, mathematical notation, and images) in textbooks. Read more about our project "Constructions in Mathematics Texts" funded by the Marcus and Amalia Wallenberg Foundation, 2025-2028. In another research collaboration, together with Tobias Hübinette and Peter Wikström, I am investigating linguistic and cultural aspects of "The Swedish R-word" within the framework of the project with the same name. I am also co-supervisor for Amanda Nordin, who is examining the discursive dichotomy between urban and rural areas in her doctoral project.
From 2016-2017, I was part of the editorial team for Svenska Akademiens ordlista and Svensk ordbok utgiven av Svenska Akademien. I have also been involved in developing "A Swedish Academic Word List" (www.spraakbanken.gu.se/ao) and the Swedish Academic Corpus (SveAk) which is freely available via Korp at SpråkbankenTEXT.
