Tommy Jansson: Recent Dissertations in Linguistics – A Critical Reading
The following three dissertations will be discussed:
- Berglind Söderqvist (2020). Evidential marking in spoken English: Linguistic functions and gender variation. Doctoral Dissertation, Uppsala University.
- Ihrmark (2023). Automated text analytics in Swedish English classrooms: The design, development, and evaluation of a supporting tool. Doctoral Dissertation, Linnaeus University.
- Young learners' perspectives on English classroom interaction: Foreign language anxiety and sense of agency in Swedish primary school. Doctoral Dissertation, Stockholm University.
Pernilla Olsson: Focus Group Interviews and Linguistic Analysis with Appraisal Theory.
The presentation will give an overview of focus group interviews as a data collection method, reflect on a focus group interview conducted as part of an ULF project conducted at KAU, and discuss Appraisal Theory as a potential analysis framework.
