Cultural policy in a historical perspective
7.5 ECTS creditsThe emergence of cultural policy in Sweden, and internationally, in the latter part of the 20th century is treated. Cultural policy is placed in a historical context and its emergence is treated in a broad sense, both as a national political sector, including popular education, and as a dynamic arena for various types of aesthetic forms of expression and cultural heritage projects. Culture is treated as a means of growth, regional equalisation and identity formation as well as a counterbalance to commercialisation, Students write an essay on a chosen thematic area in a broad cultural policy context and have the opportunity to acquire knowledge and perspectives suggesting different types of possible specialisation areas for future degree projects.
