Main instrument III, Western classical music

Students study, interpret and perform repertoires from different epochs in Western classical music on their main instrument. The course includes thoughtful discussions and practical applications of repertoire, style, musical analysis and interpretation, as well as accounts of different methods for rehearsing and performing. There are also instruction and application of technically advanced exercises and sight-reading of complex music notations. Students whose main instrument is the piano also practise accompaniment and all students play solo and chamber music repertoire for enhanced instrumental skills. Parts of the repertoire are performed in in-house concerts. Students also give accounts of methods and learning processes in rehearsing and performing music and critically reflect on different approaches to performing music. Instruction is in the form of individual tutorials, seminars and master classes.

Selection is usually based on your grade point average from upper secondary school or the number of credit points from previous university studies, or both.
