Musical knowledge II, Western classical music
7.5 ECTS creditsThe history of Western classical music from Classicism to Modernism is discussed, along with presentations of and practical exercises in ear training, rhythmics, harmonics, harmonic progression, and instrumentation in Western tonal music. Applications of music notation and sequencer software in different musical and artistic contexts are treated and practised. The tradition, aesthetics, and function of music in society are discussed as well as different approaches to music conventions, and the importance of ear training and theory study to musical development.
