Studies in field of practice - Social Work
30.0 ECTS creditsThe course comprises a practical placement period in the social work field based on an individual study plan drawn up by the student, field mentor, and course convener in consultation. The plan is followed up by the university teacher. The course includes supervision sessions, lectures and seminars.
Students have the opportunity to integrate theory and practice. The students are acquainted with their future professional tasks and are expected to perform tasks independently and test their knowledge and skills relating to theories, methods and approaches to hands-on social work, such as change and treatment efforts, investigation and documentation, cooeration and communication with clients, authorities and non-profit organisations. They are also expected to reflect on their personal and professional development together with their mentor.

Selection is usually based on your grade point average from upper secondary school or the number of credit points from previous university studies, or both.
