Globalization and increased competition from low-cost countries has pushed many Swedish manufacturing companies firms to focus on services rather than only products.

Right now there is project at Samot, The Service and Market Oriented Transport Research Group at Karlstad University, which focuses on increasing the understanding of how travelers perceive their daily travel. The researchers have developed a tool which they can measure the experiences in real time.  - With the help of our mobile app, we hope to gain more knowledge about travelers experiences and needs.

Vinnova has granted 2.7 million SEK for the project ”User-oriented innovation within primary care through innovation groups”, that will be conducted by CTF, Service Research Center at Karlstad University - We will develop a methodology to increase the level of innovation and to implement innovation in primary care.

His doctoral studies will be conducted within VIPP the industrial graduate school. - "Strengthening the transformative capacity of the pulp and paper industry by seeking new ways of producing, transferring and assessing knowledge" is the working title for my project. The focus is on service innovation and business models for the forest industry. My research environment will be at CTF.

Visiting Erskine Fellowship

Bo Edvardsson, Professor at CTF and Assistant Vice Chancellor at Karlstad University, have received the Visiting Erskine Fellowship at the College of Business and Law at University of Canterbury, New Zealand. Bo Edvardsson will spend a month as a visiting Professor at University of Canterbury. The university is located in Christchurch, the largest city on the south islands, with about 350 000 inhabitants.

Erik Wästlund, Lecturer in Psychology and researcher at CTF, appears in the latest issue of the popular science magazine Scientific American. The article talks about how people easier understand and remember text on paper compared to text on a screen. - As a part of my Ph D thesis I conducted a study where I compared reading comprehension between paper and screen. The results showed that text on paper was easier to understand.
