Corona or COVID-19, is the virus that singlehandedly has isolated countries, crashed the world economy, and reduced pollution; and you have been forced to (re-)act in some way to its rampage. The spread of coronavirus has had consequences that nobody could have imagined when the first reports from China appeared in January. The ongoing effort to limit the spread of infection and protect old people and persons with previous medical conditions concerns society as a whole, including Karlstad University. Many people are worried, of course, about health aspects and about the societal consequences that the measures taken will have.

Congratulations to Josina Vink, Bo Edvardsson, Katarina Wetter-Edman and Bård Tronvoll for receiving the 2019 Robert Johnston Award: Outstanding Paper of the year for the article "Reshaping mental models - enabling innovation through service design" published in the Journal of Service Management, JOSM. The 2019 Robert Johnston Award recognizes their contribution to JOSM and to the service field.

The Ingoskog project, about forest based green transition , would have had its closing conference in May. However, due to the spread of the corona virus, the conference is moved forward. "We hope to be able to conduct the conference on 18-19 August and will decide this in mid-May. Then we will also see what forms the conference should have, says project manager Margareta Dahlström. The registration to the Conference will also reopen during May .

We welcome Qusay Hamdan, visiting Phd student from the University of Gent, who will be visiting us until the end of September. His research focuses on the influence of materialistic consumption on the well-being of the working class. Qusay Hamdan is a PhD student in sustainable marketing at the University of Gent in Belgium, and a research associate at Vlerick Business School in Belgium.
