New Trends in Asymptotic Methods for Multiscale PDEs
… with a fresh look on transport through thin heterogeneous layers, 21-25 October 2019
VENUE: Karlstad University, Universitetsgatan 2, 651 88 Karlstad, Sweden
DESCRIPTION AND AIM OF THE WORKSHOP
The conference aims at advancing the understanding of transport through thin heterogeneous layers and singular sources (e.g. productions by fast reactions and/or quenching) by exploiting fundamental properties of special structures (continuous, discrete, and stochastic) using tailor-made matrix analysis for sparse systems, multiscale asymptotics techniques, approximation theory for measure-valued equations, distributed parameter control, homogenization theory of partial differential equations, etc. A particular feature of the topic is that in the macroscopic limit involves singular structures and thus suitable weak convergence methods in PDEs must be combined with singular perturbation-type arguments/scalings.
Contributions are expected from various directions: mathematical analysis, numerical analysis as well as multiscale modeling and simulation of practical scenarios as they arise in materials science, biology, and technology including e.g. paper industry, corrosion of concrete, steel manufacturing.
PROGRAM
There will be key note presentations of about 45 minutes including discussion and a few short communications and posters. Participants are welcome to submit their abstract for the contribution preferably before September 1st, 2019. Please use this LaTeX template for submission.
